Next stage of I-30 widening plans revealed

The next phase of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)’s extensive plan to create a wider I-30 east of downtown Dallas will soon begin, and meetings designed to provide details to the public have been scheduled.

Included in the proposed project are about 12 miles of highway from Ferguson Rd to Bass Pro Dr., which will affect not only Dallas motorists but those in Mesquite and Garland as well. When finished, the project would provide six to 12 lanes, half going each direction, through varying parts of the project limits, of which there would be zero or up to two reversible managed lanes.

Changes in traffic patterns often prompt businesses to consult with printing services to determine whether a change in their signage or other marketing materials is advisable.

Each direction of the Interstate would also have two or possibly three frontage road lanes. Both sides of I-30 will sport a 10-foot shared-use path for pedestrian and bicycles.

At 5:30 pm on April 27, an in-person open house meeting will take place at the Mesquite Arts Center and April 27 through May 12 the meeting can be viewed as a virtual meeting.

Future plans include the widening of I-30, along with the continuation of frontage roads throughout Rockwall County, all of which is part of TXDOT’s Texas Clear Lanes – a plan to address traffic congestion.
