Famed Dallas bar set to reopen

A legendary Dallas bar is returning in a new location towards the end of May.

Black Swan Saloon will soon be occupying a former coffee shop in proximity to the city’s downtown district. A team of successful entrepreneurs familiar with the hospitality industry, including the epic cocktail bar’s founder Gabe Sanchez, will be re-opening Black Swan where Fiction Coffee used to be at 1623 Hall Street. The location is next door to the recently opened Alice, an Asian-inspired restaurant. Banner printing services are invaluable in helping new businesses like this become established.

Black Swan opened in 2010 in Deep Ellum and won dozens of awards during its run, which was cut short by the pandemic. Due to not selling food, the business was shuttered as part of the March 2020 lockdown. The bar was routinely nominated for CultureMap’s yearly Tastemaker Awards for Best Bar and Best Bartender year after year.

Noted for its mix of high-end craft cocktails and dive-bar like setting, Sanchez became the most celebrated bartenders in the city at the old Black Swan. The new location is expected to sport the same vibe, including the dim lighting and art-lined walls of its previous life, as well as the trademark velvet painting of Clint Eastwood behind the bar.

While cocktails will once again take center stage, the new Black Swan will also feature a modest food menu when it opens in late May. The venue’s opening hours will be 5pm to 2am every day, except Tuesday when it is closed.
