The group plays live orchestral music with an emphasis on American classics. The anniversary concert is named “Reminiscing in Blue: Five Years in Harmony” and will feature Gershwin favorite “Rhapsody in Blue.” The program will also include “Appalachian Spring” and other popular classical pieces.
The Bluebonnet Philharmonic is a product of Central Texas Musical Arts, which runs a number of projects aimed at helping Texans deepen their passion for music. The group features conductors Conor Brace and music director K. Trey Thompson, in addition to a full orchestra of musicians from violinists to trumpeters. Advertising describes the program as:
“a musical reflection on where we’ve been and the harmony we continue to build together.”
Orchestras and other classical groups often use flyer printing and radio advertising to help bring local music lovers to their shows. Admission to “Reminiscing in Blue” will be free, although visitors are encouraged to bring donations to support the orchestra. The concert is part of the Bluebonnet Philharmonic’s fifth season, which kicked off with the Western-themed “Frontiers” this past October.
“Reminiscing in Blue: Five Years of Harmony” will take place at the Leander South Performing Arts Center at Cedar Park on the afternoon of March 8.
