The Undertale game was released independently in 2015 and developed a large fandom because of its quirky humor, unique role-playing gameplay, and emotional story. The game was also acclaimed for its variety of music, which will be reproduced in concert by a 25-piece orchestra. The orchestra will feature trained classical musicians from violinists to flautists performing under a conductor.
The performance will feature gameplay footage and artwork displayed on a screen above the stage, aiming to immerse the audience in the world of Undertale. Game creator and music composer Toby Fox praised the show in his typically laconic fashion:
"UNDERTALE is a game with a lot of music, it's good when skilled professionals play the music and people listen to it."
The Cedar Park performance is part of a worldwide tour for UNDERTALE: The Determination Symphony, which will also include stops in Canada, Mexico, the UK, Australia and more. Concerts based on the scores of popular video games and movies have become popular attractions, often using imagery from the original work in poster printing and other advertising.
UNDERTALE: The Determination Symphony will perform at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on the evening of September 2.
