One of Cedar Park’s vintage steam trains will be looking to take viewers back in time, with its Grand Regency Tea Ride special event.
The ride is designed to evoke the Regency period of 18th- and early 19th-century England, with guests encouraged to dress for the part with gloves, gowns, or other formal wear, as well as masquerade masks. There will be a prize for the best costume in each car. The period has been a popular setting for novels, TV shows, and more in recent years.
The train will serve a selection of hot tea, alcoholic beverages, juice, finger sandwiches, and candy. Guests are encouraged to bring their own teacups. Live strolling musicians will travel through the train. The journey will include a 15-minute stop at a historic depot preserved from 1912, which is advertised as a photo opportunity for riders looking for social media snaps. Attractions like this often use example photos on websites or poster printing to help attract visitors.
The Regency Tea Ride will also offer a dance card challenge, with small social tasks designed to spark conversation and make connections. The event is hosted by the Austin Steam Train Association, which regularly hosts themed rides to help promote the Cedar Park area’s historic railway.
Cedar Park’s Regency Tea Ride will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, October 5.
