Three task forces have been launched by Cedar Park City Council in an attempt to achieve a number of long term development goals.
During a recent meeting of council members, a list of targets was put together. In accordance with the previous track records of the council, Mayor Matt Powell made the decision to create three task forces, one to tackle each of these goals.
The Blue Ribbon Task Forces will each have one aim to focus on. The groups, which will consist of three councillors, will look at attracting a four-year university to Cedar Park, attempt to increase office space within the city, and will examine the bond debt service while looking at how the tax rate in the city can be reduced.
According to the Mayor, this technique has been used successfully in the past. Powell also added that hoping wasn’t a strategy and that those involved in the initiative would take action to ensure progress is made. The office force will be chaired by Powell himself, while the bond and tax task force will be headed by Stephen Thomas. Don Tracy has been appointed as chair for the campus team.
The task forces have already made progress and may soon require the printing services of a reputable local company to produce a prospectus and Brochures with proposals. According to Tracy, the introduction of the forces is a positive step towards improving the city and he hopes that the proactivity will inspire the area’s residents.
