Austin musicians play for cancer resource center

Services and support for breast cancer survivors will be enhanced by a day-long Austin music festival next month.

Funds raised through the South Austin Summer Fest will go to the Breast Cancer Resource Center, a non-profit organization that was created almost three decades ago.

In the mid-1990s two Austin breast cancer survivors had the idea of opening a small office to provide compassionate assistance to women with the disease. The organization has grown over the years to include a lending library, a helpline, support groups and a range of resources. It includes a staff and volunteers who work to provide the free services and ensure that no one is alone through their cancer journey of treatment and survival.

The inaugural summer music fest on July 6 will feature more than a dozen bands performing on two stages at the Far Out Lounge and Stage. The location was recognized at the 2020 Austin Music Festival Awards as the best new area venue.

Early bird tickets are $10, advance tickets are $15, while attendees will pay $20 at the door. Local printers often provide Graphic Design Services for marketing of events such as this charity music festival.

The Far Out Lounge and Stage is located at 8504 South Congress and there will be limited event parking. Doors open at noon and entertainment continues on both the indoor and outdoor stages until 11:30 pm.
