An Austin billionaire got a quite a surprise from Girl Scouts Central Texas near the end of 2018.
At their annual Women of Distinction luncheon later this year, the Girl Scouts will be presenting John Paul DeJoria, the co-founder of Paul Mitchell hair products and the owner of Patron spirits, with the inaugural ‘Man Enough to be a Girl Scout’ award.
Organizations that are giving out new awards can use brochure printing to explain the accolade and the criteria they are using to evaluate nominees.
In the case of the ‘Man Enough to be a Girl Scout’ honor, the Girl Scouts are looking for a man who champions women and girls, supports the Girl Scouts' mission, and demonstrates a belief in female empowerment and leadership through his own work and involvement in the community.
DeJoria was nominated by Olga Campos Benz, who is a long-time friend of his and former TV news anchor, and his wife Eloise DeJoria.
In her nomination of DeJoria, Benz praised him for taking the needs of women and girls into consideration, especially when it comes to leadership positions within his company. She also praised the work DeJoria has down through the JP Peace Love Happiness Foundation, which works to help people, protect the planet, and support animals.
