Willie Nelson has announced that his annual Fourth of July Picnic will be held once again in Austin, Texas, and tickets will soon be on sale.
After an absence of five years, Willie Nelson is to come back to Austin to hold his yearly bash. This year’s picnic concert will be held at the Austin 360 Amphitheater and will feature an impressive lineup of talent.
A more detailed list of musicians will likely be supplied to the Print company providing the Posters, but among the well-known entertainers present will be Merle Haggard and Eric Church. Fittingly, Leon Russell, Billie Joe Shaver, and David Allan Coe, who were all present at Nelson's very first picnic, will all be there.
This will make the 42nd year for Nelson's picnic, which was first held in Dripping Springs, Texas, and modeled after Woodstock. According to Nelson:
“I thought it would be a nice idea to, this year, have it back in Austin, but at a more comfortable venue for the fans AND the pickers.”
With over 20 artists taking part at the all-day festival, the picnic will have a second stage set up at the Grand Plaza, in addition to the main amphitheater stage. At the Grand Plaza stage picnic tables will be available in addition to a shopping area featuring Texas-based vendors.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 10 and range from $35 to $75.
