It's every pet owner's worst nightmare: A pet runs off while out and about and can't be found again. That was what happened to Jesse McNeely, from Austin.
McNeely was spending time with his dog, a German Shorthaired Pointer named Maverick and a friend at Moontower Saloon in Austin on April 22. Maverick, just four-months-old, ran off. The pair searched for the missing puppy that day and for several days after.
Flyer printing and Posters can help to get the word out about a missing pet, although McNeely took things a bit further. He spent $750 to hire a professional search dog, brought in from Dallas and used a drone to take aerial photos of the woods around the bar where Maverick went missing. He also put up notices on several local websites and on his Facebook page. The reward for anyone who found Maverick was set at $1,000.
The Facebook post ended up going viral and was shared more than 1,800 times. The viral post came to the attention of KVUE, a local news station.
After several trails that ultimately went cold, a postal worker saw the report on KVUE and then saw Maverick himself in Del Valle. The man was able to help reunite McNeely with his pup. The pair were brought back together on May 1.
