What's Happening in Austin, TX…

Iconic July 4 concert returns to Austin this year

Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic was moved to New Jersey last year, but is returning to the Lone Star State in 2025.

Presented annually since 1973, the concert has been held in Austin more than a dozen times. Organizers of large music events such as this frequently use poster printing to advertise their concerts.

Nelson decided to create the new music festival following the 1972 Dripping Springs Reunion where he and other artists played to much smaller than expected crowds. He chose Dripping Springs as the first venue. Over the following years, the event was held at many different venues but is considered a mainstay for Austin.

Nelson is well known for his outlaw form of country music and is one of the most recognized artists, having 25 number one hits on the US charts. In addition to creating music, he has written several books and acted in over 30 films.

Now aged 92, Nelson will have a busy year of summer festivals, including as the headline act on the 10-year anniversary of the Outlaw tour with Bob Dylan. Dylan, along with The Avery Brothers, The Mavericks, Tami Neilson, and Asleep at the Wheel will join Willie Nelson and Family for the Austin event.

The 4th of July Picnic will be held at Germanic Insurance Amphitheater in Austin beginning at 4:00 pm. The celebration will include music, drinks, and the customary fireworks.
