Holiday shows coming to Austin

Austin is gearing up for the winter holiday season with a full schedule of concerts and other holiday-themed performances.

Venues can use poster printing to get the word out about their upcoming shows. On Thanksgiving, Dale Watson and his Lone Stars will host their annual Thanksgiving Party.

The event will feature honky-tonk music and plenty of dancing to help people burn off their turkey calories. Doors open at 9:00 pm at the Continental Club on Congress Avenue. Admission is $10.

As November draws to a close, Austin will get ready to celebrate Saturnalia. The annual Saturnalia Carnival starts on November 30 and lasts until December 3.

It will include performances from Golden Dawn Arkestra, the Allah-las, American Sharks, and Ringo Deathstarr. There will also be food trucks and light artists. Admission is $40, which includes a wristband for access to every show. The carnival will take place at the Electric Church, Hotel Vegas, and the Sahara Lounge.

On December 2, Nine Mile Records and Touring will host its holiday party. The event will feature sets from Juanita Stein, a singer-songwriter from Australia, and Patrick Sweaney, a blues musician from Nashville.

Several local artists, signed to Nine Mile, will also take the stage. Tickets are $10 to $15 and the shows start at 8:00 pm.

Also on December 2, DJs from KUTX will host a holiday sing-along and downtown stroll. Participants are asked to meet on the south steps of the Capitol Building at 6:00 pm.
