An announcement was recently made by Xbiotech USA Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, that is will commence construction of a research and manufacturing facility here.
The Austin-based company, which is involved in developing novel cancer treatments based on harnessing human-sourced antibodies, purchased the 48-acre site in southeast Austin in 2012. The new location will be used for the mass production and shipping of XBiotech's primary treatment for colorectal cancer, Xilonix, which is in the midst of clinical trials here and abroad.
According to XBiotech's President and Chief Executive Officer, John Simard, the company anticipates that the new facility will be completed by about mid-2015. The 46,000-square-foot site has been budgeted at $12m. An entire campus of buildings is envisioned, with an estimated $200m in buildings to house jobs for up to 2,000 new employees. This second phase has no definite date set for construction.
Numerous opportunities will be available for a Print company once the new facility is operational. A new location means new business card printing, and new letterhead containing the company's new address. Job hopefuls may want to gear themselves up with printed items too.
A private company, Xbiotech was founded in 2005 and has raised over $50m in funding since it was established, primarily for research and development initiatives like its potential MRSA treatment, scheduled to begin next year.Get a Free Quote for Print
