Sitting in a house made out of cake and other sweets is not just the stuff of fairy tales. For the second year in a row, Stella San Jac restaurant, located inside the Westin Hotel in Austin, has constructed a massive house made from gingerbread.
The life-size gingerbread house has space to seat up to 12 people for a holiday meal. To prepare the walls of the house, bakers at the restaurant needed 900lbs of flour.
Restaurants planning special meals and opportunities for the holiday season often use printing services to spread the word to diners and other potential customers.
Reservations are required if people are interested in dining while sitting inside the full-sized gingerbread house. Stella San Jac is taking bookings for both lunch and dinner seatings.
Diners in the gingerbread house will be able to order off of the restaurant's holiday menu, which is a prix fixe offering. Sample Menus are available on the restaurant's website.
Along with getting to enjoy a unique holiday experience, people who decide to book a table in the gingerbread house will be supporting a good cause. A portion of the proceeds from the gingerbread house's meals will be given to Back on Our Feet, a nonprofit organization that works to end homelessness.
The gingerbread house is available for booking through December 26, including on Christmas Day.
