Many patriotic families and friends are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the 4th of July when the largest Independence Day Celebration will be held in Austin.
Despite being an annual event, this year’s celebration is quite different from the norm as Austin Symphony looks set to make history with the inclusion of the Beethoven festival.
Along with the much-required midday concerts, the ensemble will be stepping outside its usual programming footprint to present the grandiose Ninth Symphony of Beethoven. In collaboration with the Conspirare Symphonic Choir and Craig Hella Johnson, Peter Bay is expected to direct this year’s summer Beethoven festival again.
ASO is one of the oldest performing arts group in the City of Austin. Held every 4th of July, the event was borne out of a passion to foster community, inspire reflection, and enhance the cultural quality of life of residents. With the assistance of its sponsors, Austin Symphony will be planning, producing, and performing the entire event.
There is more for attendees to enjoy at the H-E-B Austin Symphony aside from the symphonic patriotic classics. The event, which has also been planned to feature a fireworks display, will be held at Vic Mathias Shores, with participants dressed in blue, white, and red. Attendance is free.
