Popular children’s fiction writer Kwame Alexander is taking two of his Books to the stage in the form of a musical.
The two books are called Indigo Blume and Acoustic Rooster. As they are presented on stage in a musical, it will give the stories a new angle.
The books will be combined into a single story that tells of a little girl called Indigo who is about to perform at a music festival, but her stage fright threatens her ability to perform confidently. She goes to sleep still contemplating her confidence and bravery. When Indigo finally falls asleep, she starts to dream of herself being with the characters from one of her favorite books – namely, the Acoustic Rooster and his barnyard band. As the band members rehearse, they invite Indigo to join them, but then a storm comes along. What happens next remains to be seen in the musical.
Seat pricing will depend on the section of the theater chosen. Tickets range from $18 to $35. Parking will be available to attendees at 600 Congress Parking Garage. The theater also has a clear bag policy.
