Austin on the run in February

The Austin Marathon and Half Marathon is scheduled for Valentine’s Day. Runners will have the opportunity to sprint or walk through the beautiful city. Participants have the choice of joining the marathon, half marathon or 5K.

Tree-lined parks and neighborhoods, along with the bridges over the Colorado River, provide the scenic backdrop for runners, joggers, and walkers. Past races have brought over 8,000 runners across the finish line.

Everyone will begin the race at the corner of Congress Avenue and 2nd Street in the downtown Austin area. The route will have runners climbing 200 feet in elevation as for the first 2.5 miles. The flattest stretch is near the riverbanks near Cesar Chavez Street moving through Town Lake Metropolitan Park.

Directional signage is often needed for large outdoor events of this type. Banner printing is frequently ordered from local Print shops with information, arrows, and images printed on them. Organizers can hang them in strategic locations for quick visibility.

Starting time will be 7:00 am for the half marathon and full marathon. The 5K race will start at 7:45 am. People interested in walking may do so and have four hours to complete the half marathon and seven hours for the full.

Full marathon fees are $149, half is $129, and 5K starts at $49. Registration for the Austin February 14, 2021 event is available online.
