Active folks in the Austin area can act upon their 2016 resolutions and sign up for either a half marathon or marathon next month.
The always popular race will be limited to 5,000 participants for the marathon and 12,000 for the half. The event will be held rain or shine.
This is also a spectator friendly event which provides an opportunity for friends and family members to support their loved ones. Spectators are encouraged to obtain Banners from a local printing company to cheer on the runners.
For residents interested in volunteering, this event can support that goal as well. It supports Austin Gives Miles to help raise money for 25 local and national nonprofits. This year’s goal is to generate $250,000.
Volunteers are also needed to support runners and spectators by assembling race packets, supporting recycling efforts, and manning information booth.
Entry fees are not refundable and nontransferable, so participants need to ensure they are committed to this event before registering. Packets can be picked up at the Palmer Events center on Friday, February 12 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm or Saturday, February 13 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The race will be held on Sunday, February 14 at 7:00 am, and there will also be a 5K getting underway at 7:30 am. All half marathon runners need to finish within five hours, and marathon runners need to be able to finish by 2:00 pm (seven hours).
