The Austin Museum of Popular Culture is hosting the Soap Creek Saloon Reunion, a unique event celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the renowned Soap Creek Saloon.
This reunion will feature Sonny Carl Davis as the Master of Ceremonies and performances by The Uranium Savages, Ray Benson & Friends, TGBAD, Jon Muq with McKenna Michaels, and Shawn Sahm with TGBAD.
Attendees can enjoy various activities such as a Soap Creek poster exhibit and the opportunity to buy Soap Creek-related Posters, so local poster printing companies may find themselves involved. Guests will have the chance to win door prizes and take part in a silent auction. The popular George Majewski Look-a-Like Contest will also be held.
Soap Creek Saloon played a significant role in establishing Austin, Texas as a thriving center for live music. It was a beloved venue for local artists like Willie Nelson, Doug Sahm, and Paul Ray and the Cobras. Esteemed musicians like Stevie Ray Vaughan performed there with different iterations of their bands before it closed in the 1980s.
