One of the world's best-known musical groups will perform in Franklin.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra is one of the most popular big bands in the world, with decades of heritage. The orchestra as it is today first formed in 1956, and since its foundation, has played an average of 300 performances annually, touring throughout the world.
Glenn Miller was the leader of a dance band in the 1930s and 1940s, known as the Swing Era. He and his orchestra were among the most successful of the Big Bands, thanks to radio appearances, hit record after hit record, and live performances. This group was the second orchestra Miller formed; the first was not a success, but Miller was determined and founded his second group in 1938.
In 1942, Miller disbanded the group to join the Army, where he led the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band. In 1944, Miller disappeared on a flight over the English Channel, and was never found. In 1954, the film “The Glenn Miller Story” was released to great acclaim, and the Miller Estate authorized the formation of the orchestra that still performs today.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra will appear at the Franklin Theatre on February 6, 2021. This concert was rescheduled from an earlier date, and tickets sold for that performance will be honored. Brochure printing can provide programs for events like this.
