Franklin County Fair date scheduled

One of the signature events of summer is coming to Franklin.

The Williamson County Fair stretches across nine days at the Williamson County Ag Expo Park, where organizers predict attendance will be more than 250,000.

This is a typical county fair with everything from livestock judging to culinary competitions to pageants and creative arts. There are almost 25 livestock shows scheduled including the Junior Beef Heifer Show, the Williamson County 4-H Dairy Cattle, Junior Market Lamb, Junior Market Goat, and Junior Poultry.

Culinary competitions are one of the most traditional activities at county fairs. Judging categories include pies, cookies, candy, cakes, breaks, and canned goods. In addition, contests will include a baking contest using vintage recipes, a cobbler contest, gingerbread houses, and more.

People taking part in the creative arts will be displaying quilts, tablescapes, needlework, pet rock gardens, and similar projects. There is also an adult LEGO competition.

Live entertainment is also part of the fun, and the bands this year include the Murphy Ridge Band, Mindy Miller, and many others. Murphy Ridge, who play bluegrass/gospel formed in 2021, and are based in Tennessee. Mindy Miller is a noted country artist whose career includes two hit singles released while she was on a Nashville label.

The Williamson County Fair is August 1-9 at the Expo Park. Organizers of events like this can enhance the experience by using flyer printing to create a handout with a map and list of events.
