An upcoming painting workshop in Franklin will give participants the opportunity to transform personal photographs into original acrylic artwork under the guidance of a local instructor.
The two-hour class, organized through Williamson County Parks and Recreation, is designed for individuals interested in learning foundational painting techniques in a structured studio environment.
Led by artist Joan Wilkes, the session will focus on converting images into canvas paintings using traced outlines and layered acrylic applications. Participants are encouraged to submit personal photographs in advance, allowing the instructor time to prepare the outlines before the class begins. Suggested subjects include travel scenes, homes, flowers, landscapes, and portraits.
According to organizers, all art supplies and materials will be provided as part of the registration fee. The course is intended for a broad range of skill levels, from beginners to more experienced hobby painters. Space is limited, and advance registration is required to secure participation.
The workshop fee is listed at $50 per attendee. Organizers note that any cancellations, refunds, or transfer requests must be completed at least two days before the class date. A waiting list will also be available if enrollment reaches capacity.
Creative workshops of this type often employ methods such as poster printing to promote classes such as this one.
The event is open to participants ages 12 and older. Questions regarding registration and attendance are being handled through Williamson County Parks and Recreation staff.
The class is scheduled for Saturday, July 18 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road.
