A huge music festival coming up in Franklin will feature equally huge names in music.
The Outlaw Music Festival is set to take place in the FirstBank Amphitheater in Franklin. The event stars Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson & Family, Trampled by Turtles, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, and Tami Neilson.
Willie Nelson is now a legend, still performing in his 90s. He, along with artists such as Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings, is generally credited with being one of the founders of the “outlaw country” music movement, which pushed back against the traditional Nashville sound.
Bob Dylan is another legend, probably best described as a storyteller. A celebrated songwriter, his lyrics drew on philosophical, social, and political influences that defied the conventional approach to pop music, making him a counterculture hero.
Nathaniel Rateliff had two other bands, Born in the Flood and The Wheel, before he formed The Night Sweats. He continued to perform in the others while creating more soulful sounds with The Night Sweats.
Trampled by Turtles is a folk band from Duluth, Minnesota, which has been heavily influenced by bluegrass. Three of their albums hit the No. 1 spot on the Bluegrass charts.
New Zealand-based Tami Neilson has won multiple awards at the New Zealand Music Awards, including Best Country Album four times, and Best Female Artist three times.
Poster printing remains arguably one of the best advertising methods for outdoor local events.
The Outlaw Music Festival is June 25.
