Franklin celebrates with Family Day
A popular event is returning to Franklin to celebrate family and community.
Franklin Parks’ Family Day is on the way, bringing a full day of enjoyment for local families. The event takes place at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm, a historic property associated with the Tennessee Walking Horse industry. The farm’s amenities include a dog park, a 5K turf track for running or walking, a three-acre pond, and an equestrian trail.
The event is free and features activities like a petting zoo and miniature train rides. People attending the festival can also enjoy fishing in the farm’s pond, using cane poles. A Touch-a-Tractor area will be set up, giving youngsters the chance to operate small excavators, and sit on large tractors.
The day will also feature the return of a special guest, the Gary Sinise Foundation. The actor’s group, The LT. Dan Band will perform, with Five for Fighting opening for them. Sinise is renowned for his role as LT. Dan Taylor in the hit film “Forrest Gump.”
Equestrian events will be held in the Tractor Supply Arena beginning at 11.00 am, and food trucks will be on site from 10.00 am until 4.00 pm. There will be face painting, a corn maze, pumpkin patch, crafts, and more. Visitors may bring sunscreen, water, a blanket, and a chair to make the day comfortable.
