Singer/songwriter to appear in Franklin

A true artist, a popular singer/songwriter, will appear in Franklin this summer.

Over a thirty-year career, David Wilcox has proven to be a folk singer in the most quintessential sense, telling stories that are filled with style, humor, and heart. He has won praise for sharing his humanity, as well as his artistry, in an authentic manner.

Wilcox got his start in the 1980s, when he went to North Carolina, to Warren Wilson College. There, he began writing songs and playing guitar as a way of expressing himself. He released an independent album, “The Nightshift Watchman,” in 1987, and in 1988, won the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Award. The following year A&M Records signed him, and his debut, “How Did You Find Me Here?”, sold over 100,000 Copies.

He has now released over 20 records, and tours constantly, performing between 80 and 100 shows annually throughout the United States. He occasionally writes “Custom Songs” for fans who have followed him for a long time.

A review of his work says:

“His songs range from the profound to the absurd, but always contain deep truth in them. He puts into simple words the most complex longings of our hearts.”

As of this writing, Wilcox will be at the Franklin Theatre on June 13, from 8.00 pm until 9.30 pm. Ticket buyers should consider checking with the venue about any scheduling changes. Brochure printing can be used to provide programs for events like this.
