July in Franklin looks set to be a busy, but fun month.
First up is the city’s annual 4th of July celebration, which will include family-friendly attractions such as antique cars, good food, crafts, and good music, as well as a children’s parade. The event also gives people a chance to enjoy the city’s downtown.
However, another festival will also rock the city later in the month, when the Bluegrass Along the Harpeth Fiddlers Jamboree takes center stage. This two-day event began in 1991 and after taking place in several locations, is now held in the town square. “Old time” dancers and musicians put on the festival, which honors Kirk and Sam McGee, who were local musicians who became stars of the Grand Ole Opry. The festival organizers are dedicated to preserving bluegrass music, and their dedication to this music genre makes the festival a one-of-a-kind celebration.
The first day features performances by exceptional bluegrass bands, and the second is a series of competition among musicians – both individuals and bands. The bands performing this year are Larry & Cheryl Chunn & A Step Ahead, and The Fiddle Man—Tim Watson.
In addition to the bluegrass music, food vendors will be on hand with treats, and craft vendors will have unique gifts.
The Bluegrass Along the Harpeth event takes place July 22 and 23 in downtown Franklin. Using flyer printing to create handouts enables organizers of events like this to announce the occasion to locals.
