The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ) works with classical works, contemporary music, and world music, putting their own spin on the classics. They have performed in some of the most important venues in the world, including Wigmore Hall in London, Tokyo Opera City, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, and Orchestra Hall in Chicago.
The LAGQ made their debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra recently with “Concierto Andaluz” by Rodrigo, which they performed in Spain on the centenary of the composer. They also performed it for a televised concert called “Live with the Boston Pops.”
Pat Metheny, who has 20 Grammys and three gold albums to his credit, wrote a work especially for them, “Road to the Sun,” which they premiered on a tour to numerous venues before ending up in Town Hall in New York. Another work written especially for the LAGQ by composer Andrew York was “By Chants,” which he based on themes drawn from Indian American culture. The tour won fans throughout the Southwest.
A review says:
“Members of the LAGQ certainly know how to put a concert program together. They’re as good at this as they are at playing their instruments.”
The LAGQ will be in Franklin for three performances: at 8:00 pm on February 19, and at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm on February 20. Brochure printing can provide informative programs about events like this.
