Mike Farris, a native of Winchester, Tennessee, was the lead singer of the group the Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies. The group formed in 1990, released several albums on major labels but broke up in 2004. After they dissolved, Farris went on to sing with Peaceful Knievel, SCW, and was the frontman for Double Trouble, Stevie Ray Vaughn’s backing band, for a time. In 2002, he released “Goodnight Sun,” his first album as a solo artist.
He followed that up in 2007 with “Salvation in Lights,” and the following year, he appeared at the Creation Festival, and SXSW. He recorded a live album, “Sunday Night Shout!” in Nashville in 2008, but released it only in digital format. In 2009, as Mike Farris & the Roseland Rhythm Revue, he released “SHOUT!”
Mike has won a Dove Award, an Americana Award, and a Grammy award in 2015 for “Shine for All the People,” which won as “Best Roots Gospel Album.” He performed at the concert honoring Aretha Franklin at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He appeared on “Downtown Church,” a Grammy-winning studio album by Patty Griffin, and debuted at the Grand Ole Opry in 2018. A review says:
“Mike Farris has enough heart, soul, and power to light up a city.”
Farris will be at The Franklin Theatre on September 19. To publicize events like this, organizers will often turn to poster printing.
