Goofy salute to country music coming to Franklin

Some shows and films develop followers who see them again and again; “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” being the prime example. Now, another show with devoted fans is on the way to Franklin.

The Franklin Theatre will be the place to be to catch “The Doyle & Debbie Show,” which is both a parody of country music and its industry, and an homage to it. The production lampoons the country music tradition of iconic couples who perform together and always seem to engage in a “battle of the sexes.”

The Franklin production stars Bruce Arntson and Jenny Littleton, who are tasked with handling original, non-traditional musical numbers, such as “Blue Stretch Pants,” and “Stock Car Love,” in the style of traditional country performers. The duo created and began performing the show in Nashville in 2006, above a coffee shop. They have now performed around the world, and were a fixture at the Royal George Theatre in Chicago for eight months in 2011. They won the Jeff Award, Chicago's top theatrical award, for Best Musical.

“The Doyle & Debbie Show” will be at the Franklin Theatre on February 21 at 8.00 pm. The doors will open at 7.00 pm, and since the show has a running time of only 90 minutes, there is no intermission. Brochure printing can produce programs for productions like this, leaving room for biographies and information about the show.
