A noted country artist who has also had success in pop music will perform in Franklin soon.
Deborah Allen, who is an author, songwriter, singer, and actress, made her initial impact in country music, with 12 albums to her credit. Fourteen of her singles reached the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Then, in 1983, she recorded “Baby I Lied,” which not only climbed the country chart to No. 4, but also went all the way to the No. 26 spot on the Billboard Hot 10.
As a songwriter, she has written songs for herself that have gone to No. 1. She has also written chart-topping songs for John Conlee and Janie Fricke. Tanya Tucker and Patty Loveless have taken Allen's songs to the Top 5, and a song for The Whites made it to the Top 10.
Allen says the musicians who influenced her range from pop stars like Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles, to Motown names such as Aretha Franklin. She also credits country greats such as Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette, as well as the music she heard on WDIA and WHBQ in Memphis, for guiding her into a career in music.
Allen, who lives in Franklin, will be at the Franklin Theatre on August 15, at 8.00 pm. Brochure printing can provide attractive, informative programs for this type of event.
