A country artist who is a master of the banjo is coming to Franklin.
The Legendary Kimbros Pickin’ Parlor on South Margin Street will be the place to go to hear renowned banjo artist Michael Rix.
Rix is familiar to audiences from his work on national commercials, such as one by the Bank of America for Ken Burns’ “Country Music” documentary broadcast on PBS, as well as his appearances at the 2022 Pilgrimage Festival and the 2022 Grand Ole Opry Community Day. At this concert, Rix will perform pop and country favorites, classic rock numbers, and original music, all with a full band.
Michael Rix’s music has been described as a mix of bluegrass, country, R&B and soul. Rix, whose real last name is spelled Ricks, is a native of Toledo, Ohio, who moved around a great deal before discovering how much he loved country music. That lead him to a desire for creative expansion, so he put down the guitar and picked up the banjo, discovering an entirely different sound.
Rix believes in the power of music to bring people together, citing the banjo, which is a hybrid instrument, as proof. He is also an actor and author, and as written a book about his childhood experiences called “From Cult to Country.”
Rix and his friends, who are yet to be announced, will the at the Pickin’ Parlor on Saturday, February 4. To advertise events like this, organizers can turn to flyer printing to create handouts.
