The biggest Christmas festival held outdoors in mid-Tennessee is returning to Franklin for another year.
The Heritage Foundation of Williamson County is the host of the Annual Dickens of a Christmas event, which transforms downtown Franklin into the era of Charles Dickens. The architecture of the buildings in downtown Franklin will make the perfect backdrop to recreate the appearance of a community in the 1800s.
Since the festival is centered on Dickens, attendees can expect to see costumed characters in the streets. It is expected that the characters from “Christmas Carol,” including Ebenezer Scrooge, Jacob Marley, and Tiny Tim and his entire family will be on hand, along with the wicked Fagin from “Oliver Twist.” Father and Mother Christmas, a Victorian tradition, will also be on hand, bringing treats for the youngsters.
Many details are still being planned, but confirmed features are a Whiskey Lounge, a KidZone, vendors with food and beverages, vendors of arts and crafts, entertainment on the Main Stage, entertainment on the Acoustic Stage, and a Victorian Village, complete with holiday carolers, characters, and dancers. Merchants in the downtown area will be open during the event, giving festivalgoers even more opportunities for holiday shopping.
This year’s Dickens of a Christmas Festival is scheduled for December 10 and 11, from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm both days. When outdoor events like these are planned, organizers can use banner printing to create sturdy seasonal decorations to enhance the area.
