The Anderson Independent Mail, Spartanburg Herald Journal, and Greenville News are looking for people to share their personal stories as they bring back the Storytellers Project.
The Project focuses on personal stories between 7-10 minutes long and based on such themes as “Traditions,” “Home,” “My Culture,” “My Family,” and “Growing Up.”
The three news sources are planning to make this event special this year, even though it will be virtual. Those who participate in the event will tell their stories live, but the audience will be online.
There are several criteria for the stories to be presented. They must be factual and primarily about the person who is relating the story. The stories should be about change or a conflict. They can also be about something or someone who helped resolve that conflict. All stories should have a point and an ending and not leaving people wondering how the story ended. Print shops can be used to create Flyers and other materials to encourage participation in this event by those in the community.
The Storytellers Project is part of live storytelling nights across the country where those famous and unknown can share a true, first-person story with their community.
