The free tuition program of Spartanburg Community College (SCC) is being extended through the 2024-2025 academic year.
This is known as the Live to Chase Initiative. Its goal is to provide residents of South Carolina with a free high-quality education that reduces the burden of paying for college when such costs are currently high. To qualify for this program, students need to complete the Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for 2024, be a resident of the state, enroll in a minimum of six credit hours in a specific program of study, and maintain a grade point average of 2.2.
The program does not cover the costs for supplies, lab or course fees, Books, and other expenses not related to tuition.

President of SCC, Dr. Michael Mikota, said that the Live to Chase initiative at the college has had a great impact on those in the area and on the state as a whole. He expressed his pride in being able to offer these full scholarships once again for the upcoming academic year. He added that the college is resisting the trend to increase fees and tuition and is providing an affordable, accessible, high-quality education that will be an investment for both the students and for the workforce in the community.
