In the next few days, two events are being held in Spartanburg by South Carolina First Steps as part of its state-wide Countdown to Kindergarten initiative.
These are events that help children get ready for the upcoming school year. Local Print shops may engage in printing Flyers and other material with more information about such events to encourage participation by families with children of this age.
The first of the events will take place at the Children’s Museum of the Upstate. Local community partners will be providing supplies and resources for families. Children will be able to play in a mock classroom and get experience with real-life kindergarten activities.
The second event will take place at the Upstate Family Resource Center. There will be learning activities for children as well as school supplies. Vaccines for children will be made available in addition to eye and dental screenings.
Executive director of South Carolina First Steps, Georgia Mjartan, said that readiness for kindergarten goes beyond academic preparations, and that there are many components needed to ensure these children get off to a good start when their life attending school begins.
The first event will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm this Friday, August 5, while the second one will be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday August 13.
