A new development with nearly 300 residential units is being proposed for Spartanburg. It is expected that this will help to increase the amount of affordable housing available in the city.
This development is planned to be on Franklin Road near Interstate 26 behind the plaza that features Hobby Lobby. The area is surrounded by single family homes and will be behind the shopping plaza and near other restaurants in the area. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform the community of proposed developments and their benefits for the community.
Spartanburg City Manager, Chris Story, believes the 288 new units, as well as the bustling location, will make the development popular. He added that it would create a living environment to support the working people and the businesses in the community so that it would be beneficial to everyone in the neighborhood.
Spartanburg is negotiating with a developer such that 10% of the units would be reserved at rental prices for the general workforce. Story that this means that the rent would be equal to or below what is considered by the federal government to be affordable, which is 80% of the median income in the area.
City and county officials from Spartanburg are always looking for new developments that will enable them to find affordable housing and a place for people to live.
