Spartanburg healthcare system to build new medical center

A new Union Medical Center replacement facility has been announced by Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

The facility, which is a combination of a medical office building and hospital, will centralize inpatient care, outpatient services, and physician practices, and create a model for healthcare in Union County.

Local Print shops often get involved in spreading word throughout the community about such planned facilities with Flyers, Brochures, and other printed materials.

The facility will span close to 100,000 square feet over three stories and be located four miles from the current hospital along Highway 176 across from Union Industrial Park. It is on 48 acres of land purchased by Spartanburg Regional in 2015, and will be in the heart of Union County.

There will be open spaces and large windows in the hospital, with photographs of iconic scenes in the county featured on the walls to demonstrate commitment to the community. There will also be a healing garden and chapel. Among the services to be offered at the facility will be imaging, emergency care, lab services, inpatient care, mammography services, primary care, and a pharmacy.

President of Union Medical Center, Paul Newhouse, said this investment will benefit many generations to come by improving wellness opportunities and access to health services.

Construction of the new facility is expected to begin this spring.
