Spartanburg becomes home to new eye facility

The Greenville Health System recently held a grand opening for its Eye Institute in Spartanburg.

According to the public relations coordinator for the Greenville Health System, Dudley Brown, the new facility will share the building with other healthcare

services in the building that include Roger C. Peace Hospital outpatient services, Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas, Fertility Center of the Carolinas, and driver rehabilitation evaluation.

Brown added that this month, a new physician will be taking over the practice in Spartanburg.

The Eye Institute is accepting new patients and will be providing such services as advanced condition care and routine eye exams. It will also have a retail optical shop for providing contact lenses, sunglasses, and prescription eye glasses.

Chief of ophthalmology for the Greenville Health System, Dr. Alan Leahey, commented that bringing this practice to Spartanburg is exciting as well as rewarding as the Health System can meet the needs of its patients here in the city. State-of-the-art technologies in eye surgery will be available and patients will be able to review their options should the case arise.

Hours of the practice will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Most likely the Greenville Health System will be working with a flyer printing company to promote the new facility in Spartanburg and inform residents of its services and capabilities.
