The Ellington, located at Ridge and Magnolia Streets in Spartanburg, is now up and running. This is an affordable housing community of 50 units for adults at least 55 years old.
There are one- and two-bedroom apartment units in The Ellington. Other features of the units include walk-in closets; energy-efficient appliances including dishwasher, microwave, stove/oven, and refrigerator; hookups for a washer and dryer; and wiring for the internet and cable television. The community is near the Butterfly Branch Greenway and downtown Spartanburg. Other amenities include a picnic area with grills, a laundry center, a business center, and a community room. Such developments often turn to brochure printing to offer more details about such features and amenities.
A partnership between the Spartanburg Housing Authority, Schaumber Development, and Douglas Development made the construction of the community possible. An investment from Centrant Bank, South State Bank, and RBC Capital provided the financing in addition to low-income housing tax credits from the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority. Those making 50-60% of the average median income in the area are the target market for the community.
Drew Schaumber of Schaumber Development said that the goal of the development was to provide a high-quality community at an affordable price to seniors. He expressed his excitement about this project becoming part of the enhancement of the Northside neighborhood and working with several community partners.
