Pierre Brewton has been selected to be the new Chief of the Spartanburg Fire Department.

This comes after a competitive and extensive search across the country. Developmental Associates LLC facilitated the comprehensive search process. This included written exercises, several rounds of interviews, and scenario evaluations in which a panel of peer professionals involved in emergency services from across the Southeast participated.

Chris Story, city manager of Spartanburg, said that he was very satisfied with the selection process. He stated that the search across the country and the comprehensive evaluation process have resulted in Brewton being selected as the new fire chief. He added that everyone feels he is ideal for this position and will be able to enhance the high standards of professionalism and service which the community deserves and expects.

Chief Brewton was selected for his extensive experience in fire service, his outstanding qualities of leadership, and his vision for the future of the Spartanburg Fire Department. He expressed enthusiasm for his new role as the Spartanburg Fire Department, which is known for its high level of training and dedication of its members. He said that his priority will be to ensure that the talented women and men of the department will remain part of the organization, as well to recruit equally talented people to join them.
