A Piggly Wiggly grocery store will be coming to south side of Spartanburg. The store will be on the property of the former Save A Lot on Church Street.
Head of Community Grocers, LLC, Randy Burton, and the manager of business development with C&S Wholesale Grocers (an affiliate of Piggly Wiggly), Timothy Parrott, said that they want the store to be something to be proud of that will serve the community. The store will be owned by a firm based in Columbia with over 20 years in the grocery store industry.
The store will have made-to-order pizza, a butcher, a coffee shop serving an in-house brand, and a hot and cold deli. There will be a wide range of items offered, including locally sourced, high-end, name brand, and bargain products. Local printing services can be hired to create Flyers with specials and promotions for the week.
The owner of the store plans to meet on a regular basis with an advisory committee of citizens to ensure the needs of the community are being met. As the new store has a larger footprint than the Save A Lot, the strip mall in which it will be located will be expanded so that the larger grocery store can be accommodated.
The new Piggly Wiggly is expected to be open in early 2022.
