New equipment to be purchased in Spartanburg

The Spartanburg City Council has approved a lease-purchase agreement of $3.8m to replace 26 vehicles and other equipment for the information technology, public works, fire, and police departments of the city.

Residents of a city are often informed about such allocations of funds with Flyers and brochure created by local Print shops.

An estimated amount of $1.9m will be allocated to the Fire Department for the replacement of an aerial platform truck. This will be replacing a 16-year-old truck and has reached the end of its useful life. The Fire Department said that the new truck will also be a major upgrade for the department and will enhance the ability of the department to respond to calls when there is a need for a larger ladder. The department has said that there are more taller buildings in downtown Spartanburg so there is a greater need for this truck.

Additional equipment in the lease-purchase agreement includes 13 vehicles for the police department, all of which will be SUVs; one additional vehicle for the fire department; three vehicles and five pieces of equipment for the public works department, including two mowers, a tractor, and a brush chipper; two vehicles for the building maintenance department; an air compressor for fleet maintenance; and a new server for the department of information technology.
