A new facility of Magna Mirrors is currently under construction in Spartanburg.
The company has been in business since 2005 and makes both inside and outside mirrors for cars, its biggest local client being BMW. Steve Salvatore, General Manager of Magna, said that the company makes complex outside mirrors that feature GPS and camera integration, as well as dimming glass. The new plant will enable the company to manufacture mirrors immediately, and provide space for expansion and the creation of new products.
The plant is an expansion of an existing facility, and is the third such facility the company has in Spartanburg County. The company already employs over 1,070 people, with the new facility expecting to add another 300 jobs, some of which may require business card printing.
David Britt, member of the Spartanburg County Council, expressed his happiness that Magna has decided to expand in the county. Magna has six locations in multiple counties across the Upstate and has invested over $31m to grow its facilities and products in the area.
Salvatore added that this new plant demonstrates a big commitment by Magna to South Carolina and vice versa. He said the Governor of South Carolina, Henry McMaster, has done a great deal of work over the years to support the company.
Magna expects the new facility to be operational by November of this year.
