Massachusetts company to expand in South Carolina

Haemonetics, headquartered in Braintree, Massachusetts, recently announced that it will be expanding its facility in Union at a cost of $20 million to quadruple production and create 40 new jobs. People from Spartanburg will want to take advantage of these new positions and travel to the nearby city.

The facility will be used for the manufacturing of medical devices and is being carried out in collaboration with Spartanburg County as part of a multi-county industrial park created by Union County. The project will be known as “Project Veruca Salt.”

Supervisor Frank Hart congratulated Haemonetics on the agreement, pointing out that the company is an ideal partner for the County, and in making the agreement affirms that Union County is a good place for doing business in South Carolina.

Kevin Mason, Haemonetics Plant Manager, said that the expansion will include the purchase of state-of-the-art pharmaceutical equipment. The process of expansion is already underway and most of the work is expected to be completed by November of next year. The hiring process is also underway with the current requirements being for technicians with an advanced background in automation and controls.

As these 40 new people are hired over the years, most likely they will require business card printing so they can have these cards to distribute at networking functions and other corporate events in the community.
