OTO Development recently announced that it will be building a Marriot brand, AC Hotel, in downtown Spartanburg on behalf of the Johnson family.
The hotel will be 10 stories in height and include 114 rooms, a bar and terrace on the roof, an outdoor pool, and 2,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.
An opening date of September 2017 is planned, as well as the hiring of 35 people for the hotel staff and food and beverage venues, meaning that business card printing may be needed for these new employees once they begin working at the hotel.
According to the CEO of OTO Development, Corry Oakes, the AC Hotel brand is found in the heart of vibrant cities. With Spartanburg being an energetic community that now attracts many people from around the world, this hotel is an ideal one for the city.
Ed Memmott, City Manager, added that the city has been working for many years to have a fun, livable and diverse central business district from many aspects, and the building of this hotel is a confirmation that these efforts have been successful.
Architects for the hotel will be McMillan Pazdan Smith and David M. Schwarz Architects of Washington, D.C. Schwarz will lead the design team and said that this hotel follows the traditions of grand old hotels.
The CEO of Johnson Development Associates Inc. in Spartanburg, Geordy Johnson, said celebrations are in order for the building of this hotel.
