Head of Dennys recognized for giving back to the community

John Miller, Chief Executive Officer and President of Denny’s Corporation, has been selected as the recipient of the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Humanitarian Award for 2015 by the Urban League of the Upstate.

He will be honored at a reception and dinner later this month in Spartanburg, at the Marriott Hotel.

In his position, he provides strategic direction for Denny’s. He joined the company in February 2011 and has more than four decades’ experience in restaurant management and operations. He was Chief Executive Officer of Taco Bueno Restaurants, Inc. and was worked for Brinker International for 17 years, where he spent time as president of several restaurant chains.

Miller’s humanitarian efforts at Denny’s have included teaming up with Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry and to actively participate in the company’s Hungry for Education program that helps underprivileged youth find scholarships. He has also been involved with The Gatehouse, a home in Grapevine, Texas, that has been newly established for abused women. Other pursuits include The Promise House, a nonprofit based in Dallas providing accommodation for homeless teens, and Habitat for Humanity.
