What's Happening in Spartanburg, SC…

The Upstate South Carolina Farm Tour is all set to take place this weekend in Spartanburg and the surrounding counties.

The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, which is a non-profit organizations of farmers that helps people to grow and eat organic and local foods, is most likely using flyer printing to announce the event and provide more information about activities and participating farms and meal stops.

The event is designed to tour sustainable farms in the Upstate, and for visitors to discover the dairy, fruits and vegetables, and meats produced at these farms. There will also be meal stops along the tour at Timberock at Hopkins Farms and Greenbrier Farms at which seasonal, farm-fresh dishes will be prepared by the catering services of the two farms.

Slow Foods Upstate will also be presenting a workshop at which children can take a seed and plant it and families can learn about the Ark of Taste, which is the name given to the disappearing and rare foods that the organization is working to protect. There will be tastings of products from local farms, recipes for preparing these foods, and chances for children to take home their plantings.

After the event ends on Sunday, there will be an after-party concert in Greenville, hosted by the Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery. Beer and barbeque foods will be available for purchase.

It all takes place this Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8.
