Cook-off offers good food and charitable donation

The third annual Cribb’s Kitchen Burger Cook-Off was recently held in downtown Spartanburg, attracting teams from across the state of South Carolina.

According to the front of house manager for Cribb’s and coordinator of the event, Taylor Correll-Greer, the event was set up somewhat differently this year. There were tents around the clock tower where the contestants prepared their creations of burgers, and those in attendance were able to select the winners rather than a panel of judges.

Each contestant may have used banner printing companies so they could have Signs in front of or near their cooking area, providing attendees with more information for making their decisions.

First prize was won by AC Hotel, which has a planned opening in Spartanburg next year, while the Moore-based R.D. Anderson Applied Technology Center won second prize and Inman-based Rosecrest Retirement Community won third prize.

Correll-Greer said that the proceeds from this year’s event would be donated to the Children’s Security Blanket. This is a non-profit in the area that helps the families of children who have some form of cancer.

He added that this event not only helps the community to come together, but enables them to support the cause of the event, which is his motivation to ensure that everyone, whether a contestant or attendee, has a good time.
