BMW to expand plant in Spartanburg

BMW recently announced that it will be expanding its plant in Spartanburg with the production of a new model—the X7 sports activity vehicle. With it comes an investment of $1bn that is expected to create 800 jobs in the area.

Most likely, BMW is turning to a variety of printing services to make the state aware of this growth, which will increase the output of the plant to 450,000 cars a year.

This announcement comes with the company’s celebration of manufacturing in the United States for 20 years. According to the chairman of the BMW board of management, Norbert Reithofer, the company made the right decision in 1992 to build a plant in South Carolina. The company is dedicated to playing a positive role in the region and contributing to the overall economy of the state.

A member for production of the BMW board of management, Harald Krüger, commented that the plant in Spartanburg has been the center for production of BMW’s X-line of vehicles. There are 1,100 vehicles per day manufactured at the plant, with 70% of those shipped to more 140 countries around the world. He attributed this success to the new $50m inland port in the county that was built by the South Carolina Ports Authority, which has been essential to the infrastructure of the plant and will be crucial to its success in the future.
