Downtown Spartanburg will become the second location for the owner of Baguette & Company, a French bakery and bistro in Cowpens.
Yannick Bellefontaine will open his new shop on the ground floor in the open commercial space on Wall Street in a building being developed by Royce Camp. Camp commented that having the bakery in the building, which is across the street from City Hall, will complement existing eateries such as Hub Diggity’s and Health in Hand Juice and Smoothie Bar.
Bellefontaine and his wife, Veronique, who is originally from France and has a background in podiatry, moved to Spartanburg in 2009 from Florida. After several jobs in the hospitality and restaurant industries, he began selling baked goods at the Hub City Farmers’ Market in 2011.
The shop in Spartanburg will be of a retail location, as opposed to his restaurant in Cowpens. There will be a smaller menu, and pastries will be freshly baked every day. There will also be flatbread sandwiches, quiches, croissants, and coffee on the menu, with the focus on serving customers quickly.
The shop is expected to open this month and its hours will be from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
